Working with Abby in creating my gown was an absolute joy. I had an exceedingly specific vision and list of dos and don'ts, and she collaborated with such evident skill, knowledge, and great attention to detail throughout the entire process, all while putting her years of knowledge into language I could understand. I felt exceedingly safe working with her, and was never afraid to ask her to change or tweak a detail- I felt safe that we were actually collaborating. Using her years of practice and technical skill, Abby brought the vision in my mind into reality. When I first got this dress, there were some STRONG opinions...It was over 80 years old, yellowing, outdated, and wasn't even close to my size. But I saw the Swiss dot lace, the scalloped, embroidered hems on each layer, and I had a vision! It took an immense amount of work by Abby to essentially restructure the entire gown. But let me tell you, it was everything I ever could have dreamed of. Thank you so much, Abby...for helping me to realize my whimsical, break-away train, giant organza bow, Mama Mia fantasy (and not calling me crazy during the process 😀 )

Abby is my go-to costumer and has made multiple costume ensembles for me, including 1770s gentleman's ensemble (French Court), 1850s Scottish formal Sherrif Muir jacket and waistcoat, 1860s white tie and vest, 15th century merchant's cap, fixes/updates on costumes by other people, as well as repairs on delicate vintage wardrobe items. She really knows her stuff! As long as you are very clear about what you want and build in a lot of time for design and construction (it always takes longer than you think it will), you won't be disappointed. Communication is key, and the few issues I have had were due to misunderstandings on both sides. As a director for stage and short films, I would also recommend her as a costume designer for any theater and/or film production. She is very organized and has a strong work ethic.
